I spent this long Patriots Day (MA holiday) weekend in NYC. I was visiting my sister, brother-in-law, and my niece and just taking a break from work. It was lovely.
I also decided to treat myself and I bought a ticket to a Broadway show. I love musicals, I always have and I haven’t been to see a Broadway show in about 10 years, so I was excited to see anything.
Being a child of the 90’s I grew up watching animated movies and wearing far too much fluorescent lyrica with matching scrunchies. While other girls were in love under the sea or waiting for their prince to come, I was on the streets of St. Petersburg with Anya, Dimitri, Vlad, and Bartok. There was something about the story of Anastasia that just called to me and the music was fantastic.
So while in NYC I decided to spent my hard earned money on a ticket to see the new production of Anastasia.
Seeing this show reminded me why I love live theatre so much. Nothing can beat a live performance. The actors, the singing, the sets, and the orchestra. It’s so unique and so wonderful.
I decided as I walked to the subway after the show that a new goal of mine is to see 1 Broadway show every year. It doesn’t have to be on Broadway. In can be in Boston or at a smaller local theatre, but I need to see more shows. It is worth the money.
Luckily theatres have been pretty good about creating programs to get more affordable tickets to the masses. I hope to explore these avenues near me and see as much live theatre as possible!
Anyone else a fan of the theatre? Any tricks for legally securing good deals on show tickets?
